INCERTAE SEDIS (Latin for ‘ of uncertain placement’), is the scientific term used in taxonomy to define unusual fossil organisms whose classification is undetermined for their odd morphologies, unclear evolutionary history and uncommon preservation style, becoming a controversial category among researchers.

INCERTAE SEDIS collection is designed to preserve an unclassifiable and undefined aspect through shapes that cannot be assigned to any existing structure.
